DCI Engineers Becomes National Firm

Introducing MacIntosh Engineering, DCI's new East Coast partner

DCI Engineers has become a nationwide firm with the acquisition of and merger with MacIntosh Engineering, a 27-person structural engineering firm with offices in Wilmington, DE and Wayne, PA. This milestone moment creates a national presence for both companies, providing better project and client support across the United States.

While MacIntosh will take on the name DCI+MacIntosh Engineers, the group will indefinitely retain the strong client relationships it has built throughout the years, operating as DCI’s East Coast division under the management of founding MacIntosh Engineering Principal Bob MacIntosh and Principal Steve Krumenacker. The firm brings a wealth of experience in healthcare, commercial, mixed-use, K-12 and higher ed, municipal, historic, residential, parking and hospitality projects across the East Coast.

“For a company that embraces a family atmosphere, we as leaders evaluate each decision and opportunity through the lens of how it will affect our team. The challenge of transitioning the firm was no different. Through the efforts of our staff, we have been able to overcome adversity and accomplish even more, so it was vital to keep this group intact and find the right partner, one whose values echoed our focus on service and staff,” says Bob MacIntosh, who founded MacIntosh Engineering in January 1999, adding, “This partnership will allow us to maintain our existing strengths while creating a future filled with opportunities for unlimited technical, geographical and career growth.”

DCI Engineers Principal and Vice President, Matthew Schmidt, agrees.

“Joining forces with a high-quality firm like MacIntosh brings us into new markets and provides us with tremendous additional technical staff,” he says. “While DCI has worked on a handful of projects in the region, teaming up with MacIntosh officially brings DCI to the East Coast. Not only are we deepening our portfolio and design capabilities, we are connecting with a team of genuinely good people.”

DCI Engineers will now operate out of 10 States with 16 offices and four satellite offices: Anchorage, Alaska; Seattle, Spokane, Everett & Bellevue, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Cottonwood & Coeur de Alene, Idaho; Kalispell, Bozeman, Helena & Missoula, Montana; Denver, Colorado; Austin, Texas; and San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles & Irvine, California.
